LET'S TALK TURKEY Safety at Thanksgiving

As Thanksgiving and the holiday season approaches, the members of the Libertytown Volunteer Fire Department want you and your family to have a safe and enjoyable holiday. We Offer a few safety tips for a great family feast:

Deep frying turkey has become a very popular means of cooking turkey. Follow these safety tips -

NEVER attempt to deep fry a frozen turkey, assure the turkey is completely thawed.

ALWAYS deep fry outside well away from the house and any buildings.

Do not overfill the grease. Do not leave the cooker unattended.

Cooking in the oven can also be hazzardous, never leave the oven or stove unattended.

Always have a fire extinguisher handy.

To avoid somenella, make sure the turkey is completely cooked at 165 degrees.
