Prepare for Spring Brush Fire Season

As we approach the windy month of March, prepare your property for the possibility of a dangerous wildfire. Though we normally do not consider Frederick County as an area of extreme wildfires, they can and do happen. Structures, and even houses, have been destroyed during extremely dry conditions, especially coupled with high winds. If you do burn, you need to secure a burning permit from the Frederick County Health Department and notify Emergency Communications at 301-600-1603 before you begin the fire and after the fire has been extinguished.

Have plenty of help to control the fire, maintain safe distance from any structures, keep plenty of water and shovels to help control the fire. DO NOT BURN on windy days!

BURNING TRASH AND RUBBISH IS PROHIBITED!!
